Retro Affect has announced Snapshot, a 2D puzzle platformer for PS3 (PSN) and PlayStation Vita.
On the PS Blog, Retro Affect’s David Carrigg announced the game, which has players taking control of a robot named Pic, who awakens in a dusty and abandoned laboratory. Unaware of his purpose and why he was built, he begins exploring the forest on the outside of the laboratory.
Pic is able to take photographs of objects and then reintroduce objects in the picture into the environment to solve puzzles. Photographs can capture an object’s momentum and be rotated as well. For instance, if a snowball is falling when a picture is taken of it, if the player then opts to turn the picture upside-down, the snowball will go upwards. Photographs can even be taken of light and then used to interact with physics.
Feature-wise, the game is planned to support PlayStation Move on PS3, touch screen controls on Vita, and cross-platform save support as well.
Also, sound effects for the game are being created by Jordan Fehr, who created sounds for games such as Super Meat Boy.
Snapshot is scheduled to release on PSN later this year. A PC version is also in development. No price has been decided yet.
