For those of you that wanted to get your hands on the Iconia Tab A510 from Acer you’ll have to wait a bit longer. While the Olympic Version of the device became available at the beginning of May, mass shipments appear to be delayed. The reason, faulty components. Which component being the culprit is anyone’s guess. What this means though is that both the A510, and the 3G version the A511 will both be delayed. For how long is again, anyone’s guess. A quick Amazon search (see below) does show that the product is under review and isn’t available.
With that being said, we’ll keep you posted on when this device becomes available again. On a positive front it’s good to note that Acer is saying that the Olympic version of the tablet is still a go for next month. This suggests that the problem is either nonexistent on those versions of the A510 or that Acer deems it more than enough time to weed out the issue. This may bode well for the non-Olympic and 3G counterparts as well, but only time will tell. While this could be considered bad press for Acer, the fact that they are fixing the problem before the masses purchase the device is nice to see.
