Sleeping Dogs Won’t be as Large as True Crime Games

Sleeping Dogs Won’t be as Large as True Crime Games:

United Front Games has stated that Sleeping Dogs – previously known as True Crime: Hong Kong – won’t be as large as the IP’s past titles.
Design director Mike Scupa explained to OPM that while Sleeping Dogs will be “fairly competitive” with other open world titles, the developer is predominately focused on “gameplay density”:

A large portion of our game takes place on foot and our driving is very action based. We really wanted to focus on a very streamlined and gameplay centric world layout. We really tried to pack the island with many different kinds of stuff as possible. I think our size is fairly competitive with other open world titles.

Senior producer Jeff O’Connell, meanwhile, added:

Your character is very powerful, an action hero where you can do all these things [so] we didn’t want you to have to go too far to be able to do those thing.

Sleeping Dogs is currently scheduled for a launch on August 14th in North America and three days later throughout Europe.
