Acer might have Android 4.1 Jelly Bean ready for their Iconia tablets, will Acer deliver on this?:
There has been a lot of news of devices not getting the update to Jelly Bean. Many of those devices include the LG Optimus 2X, Sony Xperia devices and a few Transformer tablets. It’s very saddening to hear the news that those tablets are not getting an update to Jelly Bean, but to brighten things up, Acer will releasing an update to its Acer Iconia Tab A200! Good ol’ Acer, always making sure they stay in the competition!
Acer has had a lot of tablets in the form of the Iconia, this year alone the Taiwanese company has rolled out a number of models Iconia models, namely the Acer Iconia Tab A200, the Iconia Tab 110, the Iconia Tab 510 and the Iconia Tab 700. The Iconia Tab 700 comes with a full HD display, so that’s a lot different than the others but relatively it still has the same look and feel to it. All of these tablets from Acer game stocked with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich at the time of their release(s). Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is an awesome update, that’s something I think we can all agree on, but the majority of us are wanting to know when it will get Android 4.1 Jelly Bean?
I have some great news for you! According to a dutch website called Tablet Guide, Acer confirmed that several of the tablets listed will be getting an update to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. They did not release specific details, at least not yet, so we don’t know what’s going on entirely. All we currently know is that several of these tablets will indeed be getting the update that we’re all wanting. With all the news of different devices not getting Jelly Bean, many were starting to worry about the Acer Iconia tablets due to the silence coming from Acer, we should all be happy now right?
Not quite. ASUS had said their whole Transformer line was getting an update to Jelly Bean 4.1 and a week later then said only a select few will be getting the update to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. That was disappointing to hear, but with Acer’s lack of details the same thing could very well happen. They did state that only “some” of the tablets will be getting the update to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean instead of saying all, so things may turn out in the customers favor anyway. Hopefully Acer will deliver on their promise and of course, we can always depend on the modding community to come up with a ROM for those tablets that won’t be getting the update to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Either way, I hope Acer will deliver based on their statement concerning the update to Jelly Bean.
Do you have an Acer Iconia tablet and if so, which one? Are you looking forward to seeing Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on it or do you think the hype for the update isn’t all that worth it? Either way, we would love to hear your opinion in the comments below!
