Kojima Likens Metal Gear Solid Releases to the Olympics, “A Big Event Held Every Three or Four Years”

Kojima Likens Metal Gear Solid Releases to the Olympics, “A Big Event Held Every Three or Four Years”:

Start revving up the hype train, because Kojima has already taken to Twitter to start teasing the next installment in the Metal Gear Solid franchise.

Likening each major release to the Olympics, Kojima explained how the labor-intensive process leading up to each game’s launch serves as the culmination of several years of hard work. And with each Metal Gear Solid launch being spaced some three to four years apart, it follows the same sort of flow as the Olympic games. “When asked what the MGS series is to you, I once responded, ‘It’s like the Olympics.’ A big event held every three or four years,” he said on Twitter.
“You devote your life to the major goal of a fight on the world stage. You think of nothing beyond that. The latter half becomes difficult, and you think that you’ll retire after this. But after release, you think about the next tournament,” Mr. Kojima added.
With this year marking the 25th anniversary of the Metal Gear franchise, you can bet Kojima has something very special to reveal during an event celebrating the occasion in Tokyo one month from now.
