Windows Phone already has a super cool Groups feature that allows us to cut through social networking clutter to stay in touch with the people who matter most—family, friends, etc,.
Groups had Group members’ Live Tiles and social networking updates, along with options for group email, texting, and chat.
In Windows Phone 8, Microsoft is improving this group feature that allows you to share calendar, photos, group chat and notes. Yes, Microsoft is bringing the concept of chat rooms where we can add group of people and start chatting with each other.
Gather your friends and family together. Invite them to a private Room where you can share a calendar, photos, group chat and notes. Or add them to a Group to see social updates from just those folks and text them all at once. Tap the plus sign to get started. The above content was taken from contacts dll of Windows Phone 8 emulator. The feature sounds similar to Google’s Hangout, but without the video chat part, but of course with Skype built into the OS this need not be the case.
