FCC to Increase Availability of FCC ID Numbers:
The Federal Communications Commission today announced plans to increase the availability of company-specific identification codes in order to help swell the total potential number of unique FCC IDs that can be assigned to devices. The FCC says today's action is necessary, as the number of new devices seeking permission to use wireless signals has skyrocketed in recent years. The FCC also said it is exploring new ways that it might approve of such devices, as its current resources for evaluating the safety parameters of wireless equipment is strained.
