Microsoft Surface is now PixelSense

Microsoft Surface is now PixelSense:
Microsoft has revealed its new Windows tablets, the Microsoft Surface and Surface Pro – but they’re not the first Microsoft Surface. If you remember the touch screen table, it’s now been renamed the PixelSense.
The device that was known before as Surface is a huge flat touch screen with the same size of a coffee table.  It is used to find information where it is placed inside the business’ premises.  The people at Microsoft decided not to give a new name for the new tablets but they just kept the name and add the letter‘t’ to the end of Surface table.
I wonder if Microsoft chose to continue the name simply because it’s a trademark already owned, or as a subtle reminder that Microsoft has been doing touch screens out and about for years.
Way back in 2009, the Surface already cameoed in trade show booths and posh banks.  It is rarely spotted and barely-owned because it is too expensive worth £5,000.  Then Microsoft teamed up with Samsung and called it Samsung SUR40.
Samsung is still making the touch screen table, running Microsoft’s multi-touch software — and this software is now known as PixelSense. The software is ingenious enough to figure out not just multi-touch gestures from several people gathered around the table, but also objects positioned on the table that could feature such sci-fi possibilities as talking to special tags.
The original idea of the Surface was for households to be able to present family albums, plan routes on maps, search up recipes online and pin notes to the screen for family announcements pretty much what the iPad does now.
Was the Surface name worth continuing or should Microsoft have come up with
Do you think the Surface name was worth continuing, or should Microsoft have come up with another name more compelling? Have you ever used a Surface before?
