Although NFC hasn’t completely caught on yet, it can be quite useful if you have the capability on your mobile device. I have found that using NFC on my Galaxy Nexus can be a vary easy way to change “profiles” from work, car and home. I simply tap one of the few NFC stickers I have strategically placed throughout my life and I can go from vibrate to loud, and from WiFi to Bluetooth. The only issue I’ve really had with using the service is that the device’s screen must be on in order to use it, making an unnecessary and sometimes annoying added step when it could just “work” all the time. Thanks to XDA member Geniousdog254, now it can.
By using a new NFC.apk, now your device can complete NFC actions while the screen is off. Simply install the modified app over your old NFC app and your all set. Currently, only the Galaxy Nexus line and the HTC One X, the Galaxy SIII, and the Nexus S are compatible but the developer hopes to add to that list in the future.
