Wheel of Wealth Developer breaks 150,000 downloads, goes full-time Windows Phone and Windows 8:

Kris Shanahan, Founder of Shantek Studios, has spoken to Australian site lalaninja.com.au about the success he has achieved with Windows Phone development, to the degree that he is now in the process of quitting his full-time job as a developer and moving to full-time Windows Phone and Windows 8 development.
Kris’s best known games are the very addictive Wheel of Wealth and also Get High with Words, both turn-based games, and the combined downloads since November last year has exceeded 150,000.  While Kris did not reveal his income from these ad-supported games, as a married man it is safe to say it must be enough to pay the mortgage.
Kris, who had no prior mobile development experience, mainly being a web developer before, attributes his success to free development tools, a tight community of Windows Phone developers helping each other, and support from Microsoft and now Nokia also.
He is in the process porting his games to Windows 8 and notes the biggest advantage for Shantek Studios has been  publishing unique games to a smaller Marketplace and getting noticed, with more downloads and higher ad revenue, rather than jumping into the black hole which is the iOS and Android markets.
He concludes:
From my first project up till now, I have learnt a lot and have come a long way. It’s been a hard road but with determination along with long hours (and no social life for months), the gamble has really paid off. With the migration currently taking place over the next 4 to 5 weeks for me moving to full time Windows Phone and Windows 8 development, I would encourage any hesitant developers on other platforms to give Windows Phone development a go. I personally feel that Windows Phone has come a long way since launch, partly because of the superior developer tools and first class developer support. With Windows Phone 8, Windows 8 and Windows 8 Tablets not too far off, I feel the entire ecosystem has a great future ahead and look forward to bringing a lot to the platform.
