The Asus eee Pad MeMO 370T has received the approval of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). This approval suggests that consumers in the United States will see the device in the market soon. The device has been announced by Asus as early as January during CES, when the company also made mention that it would be released sometime in the second quarter of this year.
The tablet is rumored to be the Google Nexus 7 tablet, or at least a slight variation of it. It certainly fits the supposed specifications floating around online about the Google tablet. The Asus MeMO 370T sports a 7-inch touch screen display that has a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. Inside it is a quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor and a full gigabyte of RAM and at least 16 GB of internal memory storage. It is also runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Operating System. It tips the scale at 0.88 pound, which is typical for seven-inch tablets today.
A 1.2 megapixel front-facing camera may be found at the front for video conferencing, while a 5- or even 8-megapixel main camera with auto focus and 1080 pixels Full High Definition video recording is located at the rear. There is a micro USB output, micro SD card reader, and micro HDMI port available onboard.
This tablet was estimated to be sold for around $250 during CES this year. On the other hand, the Google Nexus 7 tablet might be sold at around $199 to be able to compete with the Nook Tablet or the Kindle Fire, both successful tablets at the same price range.
Still, the specifications of the Google Nexus 7 tablet remain unknown so one cannot be sure whether the Asus MeMO 370T is the same tablet. It could merely be an upgrade of the Asus Memo tablet with stylus support which was showcased during CES 2011.
