ASUS Showcased Eco-Friendly NVIDIA Geforce 610M Nettop

ASUS Showcased Eco-Friendly NVIDIA Geforce 610M Nettop:

Asus intends to win over the environmentally-conscious consumers with a nettop. The Taiwan-based company recently won the Green ICT Green Energy Saving Product Award for the Eee Box EB1033 Nettop at Computex in Taipei.
Asus claims that this nettop is 90% recyclable. It has a very low power consumption because of its NVIDIA GeForce GT 610M video card that can handle both light gaming and high resolution 1080p video playback. Inside the device is the Intel Cedar Trail D2550 dual core CPU at 1.86 GHz or the D2700 at 2.13 GHz, which are both low-performance chips. A 4 GB of RAM is also onboard, as well as a 2.5-inch hard drive bay that can hold up to 500 GB of storage.
A very thin, compact, and sleek nettop, it reportedly has a volume of less than 1 liter. Because of its sheer thinness, it can in fact be put in an upright position, much like the Nintendo Wii. It can also be hidden at the back of a monitor. Despite its miniature size, it doesn’t skimp on the basic ports. Four USB 2.0 ports are located in front, along with a multi-card reader, a headphones jack, and a microphone jack. Meanwhile, a Wi-Fi antenna, two USB 3.0 ports, a VGA port, D-Sub port, and a full size HDMI port are located at the rear. As for connectivity options, the nettop supports USB 3.0 and Wi-Fi. There is possibly a remote control bundled with some sets, although this is an add-on, and not a standard offering.
The Asus Eee Box EB1033 Nettop will make its way to markets around the end of this June. Its price will be about $300 or 242 EUR. This device is expected to be just the start of a new line of devices from Asus, including the Asus Eee Box EB1503 which will carry the same Intel Cedar Trail chips as the EB1033.
