PlayStation Network to be Down Thursday for Maintenance in Europe, Australia and Surrounding Regions

PlayStation Network to be Down Thursday for Maintenance in Europe, Australia and Surrounding Regions:

If you were planning to hop on PlayStation Network Thursday night, you may want to change your plans, as Sony has just announced that the network will be down at that time for scheduled maintenance for Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Ireland.

The downtime will begin on July 26th at 4pm GMT and access to the PlayStation Store, account management and registration will all be unavailable until 8am GMT the following day. However, those of you looking to play online may still be able to do so if you manage to sign in before the maintenance begins.
Fortunately those in North America will be unaffected, so when Thursday rolls around those of you in this region will be able to come and go on the PSN as you like. While these every-so-often bouts of downtime on the PSN can be quite a pain sometimes, the fact that the service is free makes it far more easy to swallow.
Sound off with your thoughts on Sony’s online gaming service and how you think it compares to the competition in the comments below.
