Crytek, the Frankfurt-based creator of CryEngine and the Crysis games that run on it, has opened a new studio in Shanghai.
"We see a lot of potential in the Chinese market," said Crytek managing director Avni Yerli.
Its official name is the Crytek Shanghai Software Co. The studio will work on the CryEngine and solidify the company's relationships in the Asian market for the upcoming launch of Warface, Crytek's first free-to-play title.
Crytek Shanghai general manager Areil Cai pointed out, "A permanent presence in Shanghai paves the way for an even closer working relationship with partners across China," and the Shanghai studio is set to work with Chinese social network giant Tencent on Warface.
