One of the early complaints with the Retina MacBook Pro was that it had an unusual limitation on how it could be configured in Apple's built-to-order store. That's changing today, however: the Apple Store is now offering expanded configuration options for the base specification machine. Previously, the $2,199 base model only had one configuration option: a $200 upgrade to 16GB of RAM. If you wanted to upgrade the amount of flash storage or if you wanted to configure the laptop with a faster processor you needed to start with the $2,799 model.
